The uptake of branched-chain amino acids in threonine-dehydratase deficient mutants of Corynebacterium glutamicum is dependent on the presence of relatively high (>1 mM) intracellular concentrations of isoleucine, valine or leucine. This indicates th

Acetate is effectively taken up by whole cells of Corynebacterium glutamicum via a specific carrier with a pH optimum of 8. The Km of acetate uptake was 50 μM and the Vmax 25–35 nmol/mg dw min. The activation energy was determined to be 70 kJ/mol.

Succinate is effectively taken up by washed cells of Corynebacterium glutamicum . The apparent K m value of uptake is about 150 μM and the V max 4–7 nmol (mg dry weight) −1 min −1 and uptake can be competetively inhibited by fumarate and oxalo

The active uptake system for glutamate in Corynebacterium glutamicum is inducible by growth on glutamate as sole energy and carbon source and is also susceptible to catabolite repression by glucose. The basic level of uptake activity is low in glucos

The transport of branched-chain amino acids was characterized in intact cells of Corynebacterium glutamicum ATCC 13032. Uptake and accumulation of these amino acids occur via a common specific carrier with slightly different affinities for each subst

The construction and operation of a device for continuous measurement of CO(2) release by suspensions of respiring mitochondria is described. A combination of this device with a Clark-type O(2) electrode was used for simultaneous measurement of respi

In cell extracts of Rhodopseudomonas sphaeroides grown on meso-tartrate the activities of the bifunctional L(+)-tartrate dehydrogenase-D(+)-malate dehydrogenase (decarboxylating) (EC 1.1.1.93 and 1.1.1.83, respectively) could be measured spectrophoto

Corynebacterium glutamicum effectively secretes isoleucine when the precursor 2-ketobutyrate is added to the medium. Isoleucine secretion was studied under different conditions with respect to various parameters, i.e. rate of isoleucine excretion and
