We have fabricated well-defined nanostructures such as SiO2-coated Ag nanoparticles (NPs) connected with quantum dots (QDs) (Ag/SiO2-QDs) so as to control the fluorescence enhancement induced by localized surface plasmon resonance. Namely, the distan
