We have studied the magnetic states of Au/2-monolayer Co clusters/Au(1 1 1) by angle-, field-, temperature-, and cluster-size-dependent magnetic circular X-ray dichroism (MCXD) measurements in the longitudinal geometry with full use of a magic angle

The equilibrium thermal fluctuations of steps on the Pd(1 1 0) surface are studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) at room temperature. A sequence of atomically resolved STM images of the Pd(1 1 0) surface was taken at a rate of one image ever

The reaction scheme of O 2 with a Ni(110) surface is investigated from 133 to 703 K by low energy electron diffraction (LEED) and kinetic study. The phase diagram of the O/Ni(110) surface is presented by means of the LEED pattern variation as a funct

The electronic structure of Cu(1 0 0)(22×2)–O surface is investigated by angle resolved ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy with p- and s-polarized light. A tight-binding two-dimensional energy band calculation is successfully made to reproduce

The adsorption and desorption kinetics of carbon monoxide from a Pd(110) surface were studied under isothermal conditions using a differentially pumped line of sight mass spectrometer. A number of isothermal adsorption and desorption kinetics were ta

The electronic structure of the Ag(110)p(2×1)O surface was investigated by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The orbital symmetries of the O 2p–Ag 4d antibonding states were determined with the use of polarized light. A tight-binding two-

The adsorption and desorption of oxygen on a Pd(110) surface have been investigated by temperature-programmed desorption (TPD). A number of TPD spectra for associative desorption of O 2 from O/Pd(110) were taken at constant heating rate with differen

Magnetic circular x-ray dichroism (MCXD) measurements at the Co ${L}_{2,3}$ and ${M}_{2,3}$ core edges reveal a strongly enhanced perpendicular Co orbital moment ( ${m}_{\mathrm{orb}}$) in Co/Pt multilayers which show perpendicular magnetic anisotrop

Surface band structures of Pd(110)c(2×4)-O are calculated for all possible models for which the substrate is reconstructed into the (1×2) missing-row structure and the oxygen adatoms are located in three-fold sites. These calculations were compared
