Fe–20Mn–11.5Al–1.4C–5Cr (wt%) lightweight stainless steel (LWSS) was found to have equivalent or better resistance to pitting corrosion than Fe–11Cr (wt%) stainless steel (SS). The desirable resistance to pitting corrosion of the LWSS alloy

Abstract We investigated the effect of κ-carbide precipitates on the strain hardening behavior of aged Fe–Mn-Al-C alloys by microstructure analysis. The κ-carbides-strengthened Fe–Mn-Al-C alloys exhibited a superior strength-ductility balance e

Abstract As more W replaced Mo in alumina-forming austenitic stainless steels, weight gain by oxidation decreased after 336 h at 1053 K. Electron microscopy revealed slower growth of scale in the presence of more numerous second phases by W addition.

Fire resistance of structural steels used in buildings is typically evaluated based on the ratio of the yield strength at 600 °C to that at room temperature. Fire-resistant steel shows a yield strength ratio of more than 2:3 between 600 °C and room
