Three new hyporheic water mite species are described from Australia, viz. Wandesia minuta, Partidomomonia elongata and Mellamunda tasmanica. With the description of these three species, some 50 hyporheic water mites species are known from Australia.

A new species of Atractides Koch, 1837 (Acari, Hydrachnidia) is described from Ethiopia. The world number of Atractides now tallies 297 species. The diversity of the genus Atractides in the Afrotropical region is briefly discussed.

In the present study, two species, i.e. Sperchon krameri sp. nov., and Atractides magnisetus sp. nov. new to science are described from Kyrgyzstan. The new species were collected in August 2013 during a collecting trip of the authors.
