Intracavity phase interferometry is a powerful phase sensing technique using two correlated, counter-propagating frequency combs (pulse trains) in mode-locked lasers. Generating dual frequency combs of the same repetition rate in fiber lasers is a ne

A bidirectional mode-locked fiber laser producing two correlated frequency combs of the same repetition rate is demonstrated. The intensity dependence of pulse and phase velocities are measured simultaneously. As expected, the phase delay is determin

It has been theoretically predicted that giant intracavity dispersion can significantly alter the response of a ring laser gyroscope. We demonstrate this effect experimentally in a mode-locked ring laser. Group velocity dispersion of this magnitude c

A bidirectional ring laser generates two frequency combs producing a beat frequency proportional to the relative phase shift between the intracavity pulses. Methods of optical comb stabilization and multiplexing with intracavity resonators are presen

We present an all-polarization maintaining mode-locked fiber laser at 1530 nm with enhanced stability by cooling of the carbon nanotube saturable absorber. The laser output power ranges from 50μW to 200μW depending on the cooling.

A method to enhance the sensitivity of sensors based on Intracavity Phase Interferometry by a factor of up to 10,000 is demonstrated in a free space laser. This technique is then implemented in fiber lasers.
