Dilatant faults often form in rocks containing pre-existing joints, but the effects of joints on fault segment linkage and fracture connectivity are not well understood. We present an analogue modeling study using cohesive powder with pre-formed join

The grabens of Canyonlands National Park are a young and active system of sub-parallel, arcuate grabens, whose evolution is the result of salt movement in the subsurface and a slight regional tilt of the faulted strata. We present results of ground-p

We compare analogue and numerical models of dilatational fractures at low confining stress. These structures form an effective conduit for fluid flow in the field, but are difficult to model since they form in cohesive materials at low stresses. We u

Dynamics of Complex Intracontinental Basins ISBN: 9783540850847
A basin may be called “complex” if its temporal evolution was complicated by several tectonic or thermal events such as stretching and inversion or if it is composed of a variety of regionally distributed sub-basins with differing histories. Aula

The (Phase II) experiments described had two main objectives: First, to validate the recommendations for an improved Man Machine Interface (MMI) design based on a Phase I experiment on the human factors of data link in glass cockpits. Second, to inve
