The quantum mechanical measurement process is analyzed by means of an explicit generic model describing the interaction between object and measuring device. The solution of the Schrodinger equation for the whole system reflects the ‘collapse’ of

The harmonic retrieval (HR) problem concerns the estimation of the frequencies in a sum of real or complex harmonics. Both correlation and cumulant-based approaches are used for this purpose. Cumulant-based HR algorithms use a single 1-D slice of the

The electromagnetic form factor of the pion is calculated in a pseudoscalar field theoretical model with constituent quarks. We extract the form factor using the ``$+$'' and ``$\ensuremath{-}$'' components of the electromagnetic current on the light

The derivation of the ‘classical’ low-energy theorem (LET) forγp→pπ0 is re-examined and compared to chiral perturbation theory. Both results are correct and are not contradictory; they differ because different expansions of the same quantity

The detection of buried insulated wires of finite length with a transmitter–receiver electromagnetic induction sensor is theoretically investigated. The transmitter is modeled as a magnetic dipole. Its electric field induces a current in the cable.

We introduce a new method to include condensates in the light-cone Hamiltonian. By using a Gaussian approximation to the ordinary vacuum in a theory close to the light front, we derive an effective Hamiltonian on the light cone, which has new terms r

The Jiles-Atherton effective field theory of ferromagnetic hysteresis is consistently extended to describe the magnetomechanical effect. Whereas Jiles has proposed two such models, one for constant stress and a different one for varying stress, our f

The emission of electromagnetic radiation by localized complex electric charge and current distributions is studied. A statistical formalism in terms of general dynamical multipole fields is developed. The appearing coefficients are treated as stocha

The nonrelativistic Ward-Takahashi identity, a consequence of local gauge invariance in quantum mechanics, shows the necessity of exchange current contributions in case of nonlocal and/or isospin-dependent potentials. It also implies Siegert's hypoth

We compute the "+" component of the electromagnetic current of a composite spin-one two-fermion system for vanishing momentum transfer component $q^+=q^0+q^3$. In particular, we extract the nonvanishing pair production amplitude on the light-front. I
