In this article we present a new version of the Ocean Atmosphere Sea Ice Soil coupling software (OASIS4). With this new fully parallel OASIS4 coupler we target the needs of Earth system modelling in its full complexity. The primary focus of this arti

SUMMARY A collocated discretization of the 3D steady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations based on a flux-difference- splitting formulation is presented. The discretization employs primitive variables of Cartesian velocity components and pressure.

The new massively parallel computer Cenju-3 of NEC has entered the market recently. NEC has set up a 64-processor machine at GMD. After the implementation of the PARMACS programming interface, large applications have been ported to the system. Early

The convergence behaviour of multigrid is investigated for compressible Euler equations discretized on a block-structured grid, partitioned into many blocks. It is found that with one additional boundary relaxation and an extra update of the overlap

In this section we discuss the approach of using unified block structures as the basis for parallelization. For this purpose, we will resume certain aspects already introduced briefly in Section 1.1 and discuss them in more detail. In particular, we

The applications under consideration in this book are extremely challenging with respect to computing time and memory. The parallelization of the flow solvers and the use of multigrid solvers have enabled the computation of viscous (steady-state) flo

In the last years we have experienced a dramatic change in scientific supercomputing, shifting from the parallel vector processors to the RISC based multiprocessor systems. A brief look into the TOP500 list [3] shows that nowadays the RISC based mult
