A convenient new process to make silicone/organic block and graft copolymers has been recently demonstrated. This dual copolymerization process combines conventional condensation polymerization of the siloxane segments with free radical polymerizatio

The activity of HMG-CoA reductase (HMGR) is tightly regulated, in part through post-transcriptional mechanisms that are mediated by nonsterol products of mevalonate metabolism. Previous reports have suggested that these mediators are derived from far

Assay of HMG-CoA reductase kinase activity requires HMG-CoA reductase (reductase, E.C. 1.1.1.34) free of associated reductase kinase. Microsomal reductase insensitive to inactivation by Mg-nucleotides alone may be prepared by heating microsomes at 50

Methods were developed for determination of microsomal HMG-CoA reductase activity from freshly isolated human lymphocytes, monocytes, and granulocytes or cultured human lymphoid cells. Reductase activity in monocytes is approximately twice that in ly

Methods were developed for determination of human mononuclear leukocyte HMG-CoA reductase protein concentration by a noncompetitive, solid phase, bridged biotin-avidin enzyme immunoassay procedure. Leukocyte microsomal HMG-CoA reductase, first immobi

The development of polymers as an important class of material was inhibited at the first by the premature failure of these versatile compounds in many applications. The deterioration of important properties of both natural and synthetic polymers is t

Homopolymerization of α-chlorostyrene using AIBN as an initiator at 50–53°C yields a polymer having a molecular weight of 2,000 in less than 1 percent yield. The structure of the polymer obtained was studied by 1H-and 13C-NMR, IR, and UV spectros

Poly(2-thienyl vinyl ketone) was synthesized via free radical initiation and its 300 H-NMR and 75.5 MHz 13C-NMR spectra were recorded and analyzed. The analysis showed that poly(2-thienyl vinyl ketone) is an atactic polymer.

The 300 MHz 1H-NMR spectrum of free radical initiated poly(3-bromostyrene) is similar to the 1H-NMR spectra of certain poly(vinyl heterocycles) and can be interpreted in a like manner. The 13C-NMR is typical of spectra for meta-substituted polystyren
