El Chivirín sabanero, durante su temporada de reproducción, tiene poblaciones sedentarias (Sudamérica) y nómadas (Estados Unidos). Nuestras observaciones en 1999 sugieren que en La Cima, D.F., México, la población de esta especie es nómada.
