The effects of whole-body gamma-irradiation of rats (8 Gy) on erythrocyte enzymes and biochemical components involved in lipid peroxidation were studied. Decreased superoxide dismutase and glutathione reductase activities, and lowered concentrations

Publisher Summary This chapter explains whether dialyzable leukocyte extracts (DLEs) are able to reverse the E-rosetting capacity of theophylline treated lymphocytes (LTHs). In a study described in the chapter, DLEs were prepared from peripheral bloo

Summary In this work, we studied the influence of wholebody gamma irradiation (8 Gy) upon oxygen transport by erythrocytes, through the erythrocyte count and related parameters, and through the factors affecting the oxygen affinity of hemoglobin. The

Whole-body γ irradiation (8 Gy) of rats produced modifications in enzymatic activities and malonaldehyde content of liver mitochondrial fractions. Irradiation resulted in higher cytochrome oxidase and NADH-cytochrome c reductase activities, and lowe
