The syntheses and structures of cyclooctyne halogeno copper(I) complexes are described. The dimeric compounds [CuX(cyclooctyne)]2 (5: 5a, X = Cl; 5b, X = Br; 5c, X = I) are formed by reaction of equimolar amounts of cyclooctyne and copper(I) halide.

Two novel tetranuclear copper(I) μ4-oxo complexes (4a and 4b) were synthesized from the dinuclear copper(I) halogeno compounds 3a and 3b respectively. Both new complexes 4 (4a: X Cl; 4b: X Br) have been characterized by X-ray diffraction. In
