We have investigated hydroxylation and water adsorption on α Fe 2O3(0001) at water vapor pressures up to 2 Torr and temperatures ranging from 277 to 647 K (relative humidity (RH) < 34%) using ambient-pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Autocatalytic dissociation of water on the Cu(110) metal surface is demonstrated on the basis of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies carried out in situ under near ambient conditions of water vapor pressure (1 Torr) and temperature (275-520 K).

We report the first measurements on the quantitative partitioning of water between its molecular and dissociated forms at a gas−metal interface under elevated water pressures and temperatures. By means of synchrotron-based in situ photoelectron spe

We introduce an interfactant for zirconium oxide heteroepitaxy and propose that dispersed, epitaxial films of materials which are hard to crystallize are accessible by growing them on top of an ultrathin, polar FeO(111) film.

Heteroepitaxial growth of thin iron oxide films on Ru(0001) is investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and low-energy electron diffraction (LEED). Metastable FeO(111) layers grow with a thickness up to 4 monolayers (ML) on Ru(0001) by oxi

Details of the surface structure and composition of potassium-promoted iron oxide model catalyst films prepared on Ru(0001) are investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), and Auger electron spectrosco

We present a dynamical tensor low energy electron diffraction (LEED) study of α- Fe 2 O 3(0001) surface structures that form in an oxygen pressure range from 10-5 to 1 mbar. Epitaxial α- Fe 2 O 3(0001) films were prepared on Pt(111) in defined oxyg

We report different wetting properties of Cu(110) and Cu(111) at near-ambient conditions using in situ photoemission spectroscopy. At near-ambient conditions of pressure (1 Torr) and temperature (295 K), the Cu(110) surface is covered with a mixed OH
