Abstract We analyzed genomic data from the prostate cancer of African- and European American men to identify differences contributing to racial disparity of outcome. We also performed FISH-based studies of Chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 1

Abstract Due to a demonstrated lack of DNA repair deficiencies, clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) has not benefitted from targeted synthetic lethality-based therapies. We investigated whether nucleotide excision repair (NER) deficiency is prese

Background Poly-ADP ribose polymerase (PARP) inhibitor-based cancer therapy selectively targets cells with deficient homologous recombination repair. Considering their long-term use in maintenance treatment, any potential mutagenic effect of PARP inh

Motivation: The simplest level of statistical analysis of cancer associated gene expression matrices is aimed at finding consistently up- or down-regulated genes within a given set of tumor samples. Considering the high level of gene expression diver

Some epimeric 20-hydroxy, 20-oxime, 16 alpha, 17 alpha-, 17,20- and 20,21-aziridine derivatives of progesterone were synthesized and evaluated as inhibitors of human 17 alpha-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase (P450(17) alpha) and 5 alpha-reductase (5 alpha-R)

Novel 21-trifluoropregnenolone ( 6 ), 21-trifluoroprogesterone ( 7 ) and related compounds 4a and 8 have been synthesized in high yields from 3β-acetoxyandrost-5-ene-17β-carbaldehyde ( 3 ). The key reaction was the conversion of 3 into the 21-trifl

We have discovered that chlorine in 3β-acetoxy-17-chloro-16-formylandrosta-5,16-diene (1) can be smoothly displaced by nitrogen heterocyclic nucleophiles (het − ) to give heretofore unknown 17-substituted-Δ 16 steroids in high yields (73–92%).

In previous studies using cDNA microarray analysis, we have identified an expressed sequence tag which is consistently down-regulated in six human breast tumor cell lines. In the current study, we have determined this tag to be part of the mRNA seque

Most human tumors are characterized by: (1) an aberrant set of chromosomes, a state termed aneuploidy; (2) an aberrant gene expression pattern; and (3) an aberrant phenotype of uncontrolled growth. One of the goals of cancer research is to establish

Cancer derived microarray data sets are routinely produced by various platforms that are either commercially available or manufactured by academic groups. The fundamental difference in their probe selection strategies holds the promise that identical
