We present record power of 3.7 W from a CW Cr:ZnSe laser pumped directly with a diode laser. Power >1.5 W over the tuning range of 2200–2600 nm is presented. A first-of-kind demonstration of electro-optic tuning is also presented.

We present a high-power, pulsed Nd:YAG master oscillator-power amplifier (MOPA) system consisting of a passively Q-switched, short-cavity oscillator and a series of three self-imaging planar waveguide amplifiers. This unique laser architecture produc

A trivial modification to the six-mirror CPM laser enhances the utility of the laser through the increased stability and allows for some limited spectral tuning. This modification may well be applicable to any CPM laser in which the SPM and GVD are s

Rocketdyne is assembling a high-brightness 78 MeV FEL. After full development the laser will be capable of an average output of greater than 1 kW. Performance calculations using the Rocketdyne FELOPT code are presented for a 1.06 μm system.

A compact diode pumped laser was built using a noncollinear geometry to Raman shift a 1338 nm Nd:YAG laser to 1522 nm. Innovative opto-mechanical design allows the entire laser head to be 0.28 ft3 volume.

A scaling relation for laser-induced damage is developed which allows scaling from single-pulse thresholdsfor a given set of conditions to reietition-rate thresholds at various spot sizes and pulse durations. Damagetest results on AgGaS2, for single,

The optical absorption coefficient of a sea water sample was measured at 590 nm by the pulsed photothermal deflection technique. The absorption of the sea water sample was 1.22 x 10 -3 cm -1 . Corresponding measurements on samples from a standard sou
