Adults receiving respiratory Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) have 66% survival. Nonsurvivors develop multisystem organ failure (MSOF). Once hepatic failure develops, death usually follows shortly. Serum bilirubin > 300 micromol/l predicted
