More than a century of non-ferrous metallurgical activities have had a severe impact on the natural environment leading, in most heavily contaminated sites, to a complete loss of the vegetation cover (that is, desert-like areas) or to the selection o

X-ray absorption, luminescence, and Raman spectroscopic studies of U(VI)-containing calcite and aragonite show that the U ion, the dominant and mobile form of dissolved uranium in near-surface waters, has a disordered and apparently less stable coord

In this study kinetic investigations were combined with X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) measurements to determine Ni sorption processes on pyrophyllite, gibbsite, and montmorillonite over extended time periods (min-months). The kinetic investi

This study investigated the effect of reaction time (minutes to months) on the surface coordination environment of Ni sorbed onto pyrophyllite using XAFS. The data suggest the appearance of multinuclear Ni complexes after a reaction time of minutes.
