We have demonstrated a technique for remote magnetometry using fluorescence measurements in a sodium cell. This technique utilizes two-photon resonance instead of single-photon resonance to generate magnetic resonances with synchronous modulation of

We report on magneto-optical resonances observed in sodium fluorescence from D2 manifold with an intensity-modulated light. Fluorescence resonances are measured in the perpendicular (90°) and backward (180°) directions to the light propagation in l

We investigated angular directivity of a diffracted beam in a shift-invariant holographic correlator. We showed that the experimental results agree well with our theoretical model, while the prediction of coupled wave model is incorrect.

Current proposals focusing on neutral atoms for quantum computing are mostly based on using single atoms as quantum bits (qubits), while using cavity induced coupling or dipole-dipole interaction for two-qubit operations. An alternative approach is t

Recently, we have shown theoretically [M.S. Shahriar, P. Pradhan, J. Morzinski, Phys. Rev. A 69 (2004) 032308] as well as experimentally [G. Cardoso, P. Pradhan, J. Morzinski, M.S. Shahriar, Phys. Rev. A 71 (2005) 063408] how the phase of an electrom

We demonstrate simultaneous slow and fast light effects using Raman resonant probe gain and pump depletion in rubidium. The use of a weak probe to produce anomalous dispersion in a pump highly simplifies metrological applications.
