Summary The method by which the space of uncertainty should be sampled in reservoir models is an essential point of discussion that can have a major impact on the appraisal, development and economics of hydrocarbon fields. Usually, uncertainty is ass

In well-stratified sedimentary rocks, measurement of the bedding offsets along fractures gives a value for the relative displacement at each location. To restore the undeformed geometry of the layers, the offset along each fracture must be cancelled.

Analogue models of sand above a silicone layer were examined to determine the effects of normal fault reactivation. Models were first subjected to extension, which lead to the formation of two linear grabens. Each model was then subjected to a second

Abstract Geological systems, and hence associated permeability fields, are inherently complex. being characterized by nested levels of heterogeneity. These geologically complex volumes are represented in the reservoir models for flow simulation by eq

Abstract A description of an integrated approach to the quantification of uncertainty in the estimation of oil-in-place (OIP) is presented. The approach is unusual in two respects: firstly, the uncertainty is quantified by using traditional stochasti

Abstract The interpretation of pressure transients by the use of analytical models generally leads to a simplified description of the geological heterogeneities around the well. Although this approach works when the geology is simple, clearly, more c
