The use of the immunosuppressive drug cyclosporine A (CSA) is restricted by its nephrotoxicity. Perturbation of Ca2+ homeostasis has been implicated in chemical toxicity. Mitochondria, a key regulator of Ca2+ homeostasis, may be a target of the drug.
