This paper presents the design of a 2-2 cascaded continuous-time sigma-delta modulator. The cascaded modulator comprises two stages with second-order continuous-time resonator loopfilters, 4-bit quantizers, and feedback digital-to-analog converters.

Code synchronization in direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) receivers can be divided into the acquisition and the tracking phases. Here we assume that the acquisition is performed with a periodic pseudo-random signal of period N. Acquisition of ps

Today code division multiple access based on direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-CDMA) is one of the most promising multiple access techniques for land mobile communication systems. Systems like IS-95, Globalstar or UMTS will use DS-CDMA. To allow fa

The performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation schemes using differential (DPSK-OFDM), coherent (PSK-OFDM) data modulation and multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) are compared for time-variant and ti

During the initial synchronisation in a direct sequence spread spectrum system the time and frequency uncertainty contained in the received signal have to be estimated. In this paper, maximum likelihood (ML) acquisition is investigated in the presenc

To evaluate the performance of modern modulation techniques suited for time-variant multipath propagation, it is necessary to simulate such channels by computer models. A time-variant multipath channel distorts a transmission link by frequency and ti

For an in-depth investigation of modern modulation techniques suited for wideband mobile communications, it is necessary to simulate randomly time-variant multipath channels. A time-variant multipath channel distorts a transmission link by frequency

A definition of spatial multiplexing gain is provided. The advantages of this definition are twofold. The spatial multiplexing gain of a multiple-input multiple-output channel can be calculated without approximations for a given channel and the spati

The influence of ideal time-limited pulse shapes and ideal band-limited pulse shapes on the ambiguity function of periodic pulse shaped sequences, which are used in direct sequence spread-spectrum systems and pulse compression applications, is invest
