Poly(L-cysteine) Iinked covalently 5-fluorouracil was prepared. Hydrolytic release of 5-fluorouracil in alkali and neutral media, and antitumor activity of these new polymeric drugs against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma in vitro and in vivo were studied.
