Abstract Missense mutations of PARK20/SYNJ1 (synaptojanin1/Synj1) were found in complex forms of familial Parkinsonism. However, the Synj1-regulated molecular and cellular changes associated with dopaminergic dysfunction remain unknown. We now report

The current work reports the structure of the human organic cation transporter 3 (OCT3 / SLC22A3) and provides the structural basis of its inhibition by two specific inhibitors, decynium-22 and corticosterone.

Full information gained from single-molecule localisation microscopy (SMLM) isn't exploited by current analysis tools. Here the authors report relative enrichment which uses a density-based colocalisation measure for both 2D and 3D SMLM data; they ap

Dopamine sensor cell lines expressing fluorescent reporters are developed. This versatile tool can record endogenous dopamine release from cultured neurons and striatal slices, determine dopamine tissue content, and detect dopamine uptake and efflux.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the loss of dopamine (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc). Rare genetic mutations in genes such as Parkin, Pink1, DJ-1, α-synuclein, LRRK2 and GBA are foun

The dorsal (DS) and ventral striatum (VS) receive dopaminergic projections that control motor functions and reward-related behavior. It remains poorly understood how dopa-mine release dynamics across different temporal scales in these regions are cou
