Autonomous vehicles require highly sophisticated decision-making to determine their motion. This paper describes how such functionality can be achieved with a practical rule engine learned from expert driving decisions. We propose an algorithm to cre

We offer a perspective on recent advances in picosecond-timescale all-optical switching with applications in quantum optics. The switch is based on polarization rotation in standard single-mode fiber via the optical Kerr effect. By using ultrafast la

We introduce a novel method to generate beams with frequency-dependent polarization, i.e. spectral vector beams. They allow determining changes in the spectrum by only using polarization measurements, thus enabling GHz read-out rates.

We present a compressed-sensing inspired method to ascertain any rank-deficient qudit state, which we experimentally encode in photonic orbital angular momentum. Our technique provides an easy and accurate way to identify quantum sources and systems.
We introduce a novel method to generate a beam with frequency-dependent polarization, i.e. a spectral vector beam. Such beams allow determining the frequency spectrum by only measuring polarization, which can reach GHz read-out rates.
