In earlier studies the tetrahydroisoquinoline derivative N-methyl-norsalsolinol (2-MDTIQ) was discovered in lumbar cerebrospinal fluid and brain of patients with Parkinson's disease. To establish whether 2-MDTIQ is toxic to the dopaminergic system, 2
