Summary. The enzyme 5′-nucleotidase (5′-N) was demonstrated cytochemi-cally in the blast cells from a case of acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia. No activity of 5′-N could be detected in blasts of other types of acute leukaemia.

Analysis of bone marrow slides from 1,386 patients entered into the Medical Research Council's 8th and 9th trials in Acute Myeloid Leukaemia confirmed that features associated with differentiation in blast cells, in particular increasing Sudan Black

We report here the establishment of a new cell line, Karpas 620 (K620), from the peripheral blood of an elderly woman with an IgG-kappa plasma cell leukaemia (PCL). The line has the same hypotetraploid karyotype as the fresh cells from the patient. T

Two patients with a unique combination of clinical, haematological, pathological and immunological features are described. These features included a chronic course without significant constitutional symptoms, substantial splenomegaly without other or

A series of 10 patients with hairy-cell leukaemia (HCL) was studied. The hairy cells (HCs) of all the patients studied possessed surface membrane immunoglobulin of a single light chain type (Smlg) not acquired from the serum. Combined Smlg, esterase

The concentration of serum IgD was measured in 100 patients with Hodgkin disease; 65 had 3--50-fold increases in IgD levels. Several parameters were found to influence serum IgD concentration: IgD level in older patients (greater than 50 yr) was sign

Continuous tissue culture lines were established from the bone marrow or peripheral blood of 28 patients with haematological malignancies. The morphological and immunological properties of these newly established cell lines were studied after periods

We describe the characterization of a new human cell line, Karpas 299 (K299), established from blast cells in the peripheral blood of a 25- year-old white man. His illness, which began with enlarged occipital and axillary nodes and weight loss, ended
