Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) regrowth after defoliation results from the mobilization of sugar reserves (mainly fructans) and, simultaneously, the efficient lateral transport of sucrose toward growing tissues. However, as for grasses overall, it is n

N uptake is positively correlated with photosynthetic capacity in ryegrass. The N sink strength of leaf meristems increased in response to defoliation. C and N reserves were remobilized only under severe defoliation.

International audience; Sucrose transport between source and sink tissues is supposed to be a key-step for an efficient regrowth of perennial rye-grass after defoliation and might be altered by light conditions. we assessed the effect of different li

Oilseed rape is sensitive to sulphur (S) limitation and is confronted to permanent changes of S availability, resulting from soil activity and S fertilization regimes, which may affect N and S uptake, storage and remobilization. Therefore, the presen

Because it has a high demand for sulphur (S), oilseed rape is particularly sensitive to S limitation. However, the physiological effects of S limitation remain unclear, especially during the rosette stage. For this reason a study was conducted to det

This study presents the effects of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) on growth, N uptake, N partitioning, and N storage in taproots of non-nodulated alfalfa (cv. Lodi). When compared to untreated plants, addition of 100 micro M MeJA to the nutrient solution fo

Our objective was to understand how mineral N availability alters accumulation of N reserves (nitrate, amino acids, soluble proteins and vegetative storage proteins known as VSP) in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L. cv Lodi) taproots. The effects of variat
