Study of transition location effect (from natural transition to fully turbulent) on separation size, shock structure and unsteadiness was the focus of this WP. Boundary layer tripping (by wire or roughness) and flow control devices (VG) were used for

This book presents experimental and numerical findings on reducing shock-induced separation by applying transition upstream the shock wave. The purpose is to find out how close to the shock wave the transition should be located in order to obtain fav

Adaptive wall-functions are developed for the near-wall elliptic-blending eddy-viscosity model (Billard and Laurence, Int. J. Heat Fluid Flow 33(1), 45–58, 2012). The aim of the new methodology is to make the predictions of this turbulence model le

This paper presents a two-dimensional numerical investigation of a vertical axis turbine with focus on the prediction from two different turbulence modelling schemes. The three bladed turbine configuration tested is that of Roa et al. (2010) which ha

This paper first reconsiders evolution over 20 years of the k − e − v 2 ¯ − f strand of eddy-viscosity models, developed since Durbin’s (1991) original proposal for a near-wall eddy viscosity model based on the physics of the full Reynolds s

The paper presents the development and validation of adaptive wall functions that allow local “downto-the-wall” resolution based on a three-equation plus elliptic-blending eddy-viscosity model. Two wall-treatments are proposed: 1/ the wall functi

Progress in Hybrid RANS-LES Modelling ISBN: 9783642318177
This work presents a scalar flux model in the framework of a hybrid RANS-LES modelling. The model is tested on a heated channel flow at different Prandtl numbers and on a T-junction. Results show a good agreement with both DNS and experimental data.
