We study the general problem of Raman resonances in arbitrary magnetic fields for realistic alkali atoms. We first present the details of a model that includes all magnetic sub-levels and their appropriate coupling strengths to two laser fields. The

Systems that exhibit positive and negative dispersion are of interest for numerous applications especially when accompanied by transparency. In this work, we study the variation of the sign of the dispersion in the case of a four-level ‘N-Scheme’

We have investigated recoil-induced resonances in laser-cooled atoms for the purpose of developing an optical switch. In contrast to our earlier experiments 8, we employ a system in which the trapping beams are left on during the course of the measur

In this article, we highlight some of the problems inherent in fielding an atom interferometer sensor, specifically an atom interferometer gradient magnetometer of the type recently proposed [Davis, J.P.; Narducci, F.A. J. Mod. Opt. 2008, 55, 3173–

We have studied phase dynamics in EIT in a dense rubidium vapor. We have observed a very fast growth of the absorption when the phase of the optical field was abruptly changed, followed by a slow return to the steady state absorption. Then the transm

We present atom interferometry measurements using a 2D tilted MOT atom source. The atoms’ transit times through multiple continuous Raman beams form the atom optic light pulses. Prospects for a dual sensor will be discussed.

Frontiers in Optics 2015.
We present measurements of magnetic gradients using atom clouds. Atoms are collected in a 3D MOT and half the atoms are launched. Raman spectroscopy is performed, determining the magnetic field at each atom cloud.
