Large-scale networks of phase synchronization are considered to regulate the communication between brain regions fundamental to cognitive function, but the mapping to their structural substrates, i.e., the structure-function relationship, remains poo

We introduce a CW two-color Ti:sapphire laser for terahertz spectroscopic applications. The laser provides two parallel beams at independently tunable wavelengths allowing one to select a difference frequency in the range from below 20 GHz to 50 THz.

We report on the fabrication and characterization of LT GaAs photomixers for generation of 460 GHz radiation. Resonant cavity structures and devices with various finger contacts geometry are used to enhance the photomixer performance. The DC responsi

We report on fabrication and high-frequency performance of our photodetectors and photomixers based on freestanding low-temperature-grown GaAs (LT-GaAs). In our experiments, the LT-GaAs/AlAs bilayers were grown on 2-inch diameter, semi-insulating GaA

Optical heterodyne millimeter-wave (mm-wave) generation using traveling-wave photodetectors (TW-PDs) is examined both experimentally and theoretically. Ultrahigh-frequency (110 GHz, 160 GHz and 460 GHz) InP-based 1.55 /spl mu/m TW-PDs were fabricated

Summary form only given. Heterodyne downconversion, or photomixing, of two CW laser beams has proven to be a successful way to generate narrow-band radiation in the terahertz spectral region. For the first demonstration of efficient and frequency-tun
