The reaction between (η-C 5 Me 5 ) 2 V (1) and O 2 (1:2 mole ratio) in hexane at −30 o C for 12 h gave [(μ-η 3 -C 5 Me 5 O 3 )V(O)] 2 (3) in 20% yield. The reaction between 1 and traces of O 2 in hexane at 20 o C for 24 h gave [(η-C 5 Me 5 )V]
