The local environment of manganese and cobalt in diffusion doped Ca3(VO4)2 crystals was experimentally evidenced: tetrahedral coordination and the coordination intermediate between tetrahedral and octahedral was revealed for Mn(2+δ)+ and Co2+ ions.
