We report the first experimental demonstration of stable, efficient, continuous-wave lasing of a femtosecond laser written, 1.3 µm channel waveguide laser in a Nd3+:BaY2F8 crystal without any parasitic lasing in the 900-1500 nm spectral region.

Depressed-index low-loss (0.38 dB/cm) buried channel waveguides with a circular cladding are fabricated in bulk Tm3+:SrF2 by ultrafast laser inscription. The waveguide laser generated 148 mW at 1.87 pm with a slope efficiency of 63.9%.

Eu3+-Doped CaMoO4 single-crystal fibers with concentrations from 0.01 to 1 at% have been grown by the micro-pulling-down method in an air atmosphere. The origin of the coloration of the crystals can be attributed to the charge compensations. In the a
