We experimentally demonstrate that DSP-based fiber-longitudinal power estimation achieves good agreement with OTDR with a root-mean-square error of 0.18 dB and thus localizes a 0.77-dB anomaly loss, which may occur as a connector loss.

In the optical communication, ultra-wide band (UWB) wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) transmission systems have been gathering considerable attention because it is becoming rapidly difficult to increase capacity per optical fiber within conventi

We propose a step-size optimization scheme of the split-step Fourier method for longitudinal power profile monitoring. We observe only a 1.06-dB root-mean-square error from the theoretical power profile for a 2,080-km transmission link.

The EEPN penalty was measured separately from other factors in 5120-km transmission of 120-Gbaud 16QAM signal for different LO lasers. Digital subcarrier multiplexing suppressed the EEPN-induced NGMI deterioration by ~0.4 at 102,400 ps/nm.
This paper presents analytical results on longitudinal power profile estimation (PPE) methods, which visualize signal power evolution in optical fibers at a coherent receiver. The PPE can be formulated as an inverse problem of the nonlinear Schr\"odi

Ultra-wideband (UWB) wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) transmission using high-order modulation formats is one of the key techniques to expand the transmission capacity per optical fiber. For UWB systems, the nonlinear interaction caused by inter
