Abstract Traditionally, products of electrical SiFe steel are focussed on applications for frequencies of 50–Hz. However, the recent developments of electric drive systems yielded a strong extension of the range from f = 16 2/3 Hz up to ca. 500 Hz.

For magnetic energy loss measurements on electric steel sheets, the Epstein tester (ET) is applied for 100 years. However, it suffers from unsolved problems, such as inhomogeneity of flux in the corners and even more of impact of sample cutting. As a

Magnetic energy loss P of SiFe steel represents a key factor for the efficiency of soft magnetic machine cores. Traditionally, they are operated with 50 Hz (or 60 Hz), a frequency value that yields rather balanced portions of hysteresis loss and eddy

Magnetic energy losses of SiFe sheets are determined by the standardized methods of single sheet tester (SST) or Epstein tester (ET). According to IEC standards, the total power consumption is measured in Watt-metric ways, and the portion that concer

Magnetic energy losses of silicon iron (SiFe) sheets are determined by the standardized methods of single sheet tester (SST) or Epstein tester (ET). The ET is much more compact and can be applied in a large range of frequency. However, it suffers fro

For the determination of magnetic energy losses of SiFe sheets as applied for technical frequencies, the most effective tool is given by the standardized single sheet tester (SST). However, for measurements at elevated frequency, as becoming relevant

The genesis of alternate gravel bars in straightened rivers and braided rivers is closely coupled to the formation of scours. Scours can lead to riverbank failure, initiate lateral river dynamics and strongly impact the interaction between surface an

Magnetic energy loss P of soft magnetic laminations like SiFe sheets tends to be expressed through an integral over the power product H · dB/dt. Already in earlier papers, we stressed that distinctions are needed for the quantities H and B. However,
