We present a dual-comb interferometer capable of measuring both the range to a target as well as the target’s transverse rotation rate. Measurement of the transverse rotation of the target is achieved by preparing the probe comb with orbital angula

We demonstrate the application of mode-locked mid-infrared dual frequency comb spectroscopy for combustion analysis. With two settings of the same dual-comb system, the measurement spans 1500 cm−1 from 2.8 to 5 µm with 0.0067 cm−1 (200 MHz) poin

The rotational Doppler shift (RDS) is typically measured by illuminating a rotating target with a laser prepared in a simple, known orbital angular momentum (OAM) superposition. We establish theoretically and experimentally that detecting the rotatio

We measure the rotational Doppler shift from a spinning target illuminated with spatially and temporally incoherent light. This demonstrates that a well-defined orbital angular momentum spectrum is not required to observe a rotational Doppler shift.

We demonstrate a technique for characterizing angular velocities of small particles using light with orbital angular momentum and a machine learning-based signal processing toolbox. We expect this technique will find applications in fluid mechanics.

We detail an experimentally simple approach for centering a beam of light to the axis of a rotating surface. This technique can be understood as a rotating analog to knife-edge profilometry, a common experimental technique wherein the intensity (or p

The combination of porosity and permeability of a fluid-loaded structure strongly influences its behavior, but separating the two effects has traditionally proven challenging. Here, results from an experimental and numerical investigation are present

We use a broadband mid-IR dual-comb spectrometer operating between 2.8 and 5 microns to measure time-resolved mole fractions of 12 gaseous species and isotopologues in the pyrolysis products above a heated Eucalyptus wood sample.

We report sensitivity differences for two established techniques for measuring rotational Doppler shifts from randomly distributed scatterers. The phase sensitivity of heterodyne detection can measure targets with high scatterer density whereas the f
