Sister chromatid exchanges (SCEs) are considered to be products of homologous recombination repair. The authors show that SCEs can arise independently of homologous recombination due to processing of replication intermediates during mitosis.

Replication fork degradation can result in genome instability. Here authors reveal a role for Rif1 protein in protecting stalled replication forks from undergoing extensive, DNA2-dependent, degradation.

SummarySister chromatid exchanges (SCEs) are products of joint DNA molecule resolution, and are considered to form through homologous recombination (HR). Indeed, upon generation of irradiation-induced DNA breaks, SCE induction was compromised in cell

The stalled fork protection pathway mediated by breast cancer 1/2 (BRCA1/2) proteins is critical for replication fork stability. However, it is unclear whether additional mechanisms are required to maintain replication fork stability. We describe a h

Currently, one of the most effective techniques to study the mechanisms of DNA replication is using the electron microscopy. Typical imaging experiments result in terabytes of image data, where finding and classifying the replication forks is done ma

Chemotherapeutic regimens that poison DNA replication are used for the treatment of homologous recombination (HR)-deficient cancers. We have discovered a novel mechanism by which the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeler SMARCAD1 stabilizes replication forks t
