The lunar meteorite Dhofar 1436 is dominated by solar wind type noble gases. Solar argon is equilibrated with “parentless” 40Ar commonly known as lunar orphan argon. Ar‐Ar isochron analyses determined the lunar trapped 40Ar/36Ar ratio to 2.51

We investigated the metal‐rich chondrite Sierra Gorda (SG) 009, a member of the new G chondrite grouplet (also including NWA 5492, GRO 95551). G chondrites contain 23% metal, very reduced silicates, and rare oxidized mineral phases (Mg‐chromite,

The Ghubara meteorite contains abundant trapped gases in voids of highly retentive phases that can be released by stepwise crushing and thermal degassing. Their composition is dominated by the solar wind component and by radiogenic argon. We favor a

The article considers different points of view on the genesis of extraterrestrial trapped argon with a composition different from primordial/solar in meteorites and lunar rocks. An alternative hypothesis of the origin of this component is discussed.

Ar-Ar isochron ages of EL chondrites suggest closure of the K-Ar system at 4.49 ± 0.01 Ga for EL5 and 6 chondrites, and 4.45 ± 0.01 Ga for EL3 MAC 88136. The high-temperature release regimes contain a mixture of radiogenic 40Ar* and trapped primord

We present 40Ar-39Ar dating results of handpicked mineral separates and wholerock samples of Nakhla, Lafayette, and Chassigny. Our data on Nakhla and Lafayette and recently reported ages for some nakhlites and Chassigny (Misawa et al. 2006; Park et a

To investigate the geochemical behaviour of argon isotopes during mantle metasomatism and to obtain chronological information on the age of metasomatic events under the Arabian Shield, we analyzed mantle xenoliths and hornblende megacrysts from Saudi

We report a high-resolution 40Ar-39Ar study of mineral separates and whole-rock samples of olivine-phyric (Dhofar 019, Sayh al Uhaymir [SaU] 005) and basaltic (Shergotty, Zagami) shergottites. Excess argon is present in all samples. The highest (40Ar
