The ability to control both electric and magnetic dispersion of light allows a novel type of hyperbolic material with impedance matched to air. Here, the authors show experimentally a topological transition between elliptic and magnetic hyperbolic di

Endoscopic Microscopy XV.
A miniature endomicroscope is presented that combines a large field-of-view (up to 1.7 mm) for OCT-imaging and a high-resolution mode with 360 μm field-of-view (NA = 0.5) for multi-photon fluorescence or OCT imaging. The 4.7x magnification variation

We experimentally investigated the role of background signal in time resolved photoluminescence experiments with single quantum dots on substrates. We show that the background fluorescence signal from thin gold films fabricated by electron-beam evapo

An optical metamaterial, operating in between the MID/IR and the visible domain, which uses the effect of extreme coupling between closely spaced nanostructured gold metal plates and a planar gold substrate was realized by means of electron beam lith

Strongly anisotropic media where the principal components of electric permittivity or magnetic permeability tensors have opposite signs are termed as hyperbolic media. Such media support propagating electromagnetic waves with extremely large wave vec

We measure the topological transition between the elliptic and hyperbolic dispersion in a multilayer fishnet metamaterial. In the hyperbolic regime, we demonstrate enhancement of thermal emission, which becomes directional, coherent and polarized.

In this work we present results on the practical realization of optical negative-index metamaterials based on two different geometries for the visible and near infrared (NIR) domains. A detailed description of the manufacturing technology used for th

Properties of metamaterials are usually discussed in terms of biaxial anisotropic material parameters. To consider the underlying constitutive relations as valid, it is required that only weak spatial dispersion occurs. At operational frequencies of
