A novel [2,3]Wittig variant, termed “siloxy-[2,3]Wittig rearrangement”, has been developed which provides the half-silylated 1,2-diol systems with a high anti-diastereoselectivity. The unusual anti-selectivity is discussed on mechanistic grounds.
