Let M be a connected smooth manifold, let Aut ( p ) be the group automorphisms of the bundle p : R × M → R , and let q : J 1 ( R , M ) × R → J 1 ( R , M ) be the canonical projection. Invariant functions on J r ( q ) under the natural action of

Second-order Lagrangian densities admitting a first-order Hamiltonian formalism are studied; namely, (1) for each second-order Lagrangian density on an arbitrary fibred manifold $$p:E\rightarrow N$$ the Poincare–Cartan form of which is projectable

The classification of 4-dimensional naturally reductive pseudo-Riemannian spaces is given. This classification comprises symmetric spaces, the product of 3-dimensional naturally reductive spaces with the real line and new families of indecomposable m

Let M be a smooth oriented connected n-dimensional manifold and let M be the space of pseudo-Riemannian metrics on M of a given signature (n+,n−),n++n−=n>1. A system of n metric invariants is attached to each metric in M, called the Ricci invaria

In this paper, we address the calculation of geometric characteristics of conic sections (axes, asymptotes, centres, eccentricity, foci) given in Bezier form in terms of their control polygons and weights, making use of real and complex projective an

In this paper we classify and derive closed formulas for geometric elements of quadrics in rational B\'ezier triangular form (such as the center, the conic at infinity, the vertex and the axis of paraboloids and the principal planes), using just the

In this paper we review the derivation of implicit equations for non-degenerate quadric patches in rational Bezier triangular form. These are the case of Steiner surfaces of degree two. We derive the bilinear forms for such quadrics in a coordinate-f

A first-order Lagrangian L ∇ variationally equivalent to the second-order Einstein- Hilbert Lagrangian is introduced. Such a Lagrangian depends on a symmetric linear connection, but the dependence is covariant under diffeomorphisms. The variational
