BACKGROUND: Owing to the wide spread perception of a possible benefit from paclitaxel in the second-line situation the Nordic Gynecologic Oncology Group (NGOG) conducted two prospective phase II studies of paclitaxel single agent treatment (175 mg/m2

The spatial coherence of undulator radiation has been modified in a quantitative way, such that when imaging with undulator light of λ=14 nm, the resultant images do not have the usual coherent artifacts of ringing and speckle. To achieve this, we m

A molybdenum/silicon multilayer-coated 1:1 ring-field optic with a numerical aperture of 0.0835 is used to carry out soft-x-ray projection imaging with undulator radiation at 12.9 nm. An ideal optic of this type should be able to image 0.1-μm featur

Soft-x-ray projection imaging is demonstrated by the use of 14-nm radiation from a laser plasma source and a single-surface multilayer-coated ellipsoidal condenser. Aberrations in the condenser and the Schwarzschild imaging objective are characterize

It has been shown that it is possible to produce near diffraction limited images with soft x rays of wavelength 13.8 nm using normal incidence Si/Mo‐multilayered coated optics. Initial experiments with a 20X reduction Schwarzschild optic produced f
The great promise of EUV lithography (EUVL) comes from its tremendous reduction in wavelength, small numerical apertures (NAs), and large operational k1 factors. The latter two parameters lead to the very important conclusion of long extendibility of

Projection imaging of 0.1-microm lines and spaces is demonstrated with a Mo/Si multilayer coated Schwarzschild objective and 14-nm illumination from a laser plasma source. This structure has been etched into a silicon wafer by using a trilevel resist

We propose a technique for cooling optically trapped atoms to microkelvin temperatures, and lower, by using the dipole force of resonance-radiation pressure.

We experimentally demonstrate a fundamentally new type of intrinsic optical bistability that requires no resonant optical cavity. Operation is based on mutual self-focusing of counterpropagating laser beams in a nonlinear medium.
