Cyclohexene oxide ring opening with N,N-dialkylethane-1,2-diamines and subsequent N,O-acylation give rise to N-(2-acyloxycyclohexyl)-N-(2-aminoethyl)carboxamides. These compounds possess pronounced antiarrhythmic activity and low toxicity.

Aim of this study was to investigate antiarrhythmic and toxic effects of verapamil in mice and rats with thyrotoxicosis and hypothyroidism. We found that changes of thyroid status lead to the increased sensitivity of animals to toxicity of verapamil.
