A large fraction of the organic carbon derived from land that is transported through inland waters is decomposed along river systems and emitted to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide (CO2). The Amazon River outgasses nearly as much CO2 as the rainfores

Structural and electronic properties of the interface between α-Al2O3 (0001) and GaN (0001) surfaces are investigated through ab initio calculations within the density functional theory. Two different structural models have been investigated interfa

Recent estimates indicate that the lower Amazon River outgasses significant amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) that was not previously accounted for the global inland water carbon budget. Detailed evaluation of seasonal variability and controlling mecha

The Amazon River outgasses nearly an equivalent amount of CO2 as the rainforest sequesters on an annual basis due to microbial decomposition of terrigenous and aquatic organic matter. Most research performed in the Amazon has been focused on unraveli

In this work we have performed atomistic simulations in Ba(2)RE(3+)NbO(6) (RE(3+) = La, Ce, Nd, Pr, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Y, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu) compounds in order to predict their physical properties and behavior under lanthanide substitutions.
