The design and performance of an integrated front end for high-channel-count neural recording microsystems is presented. This front end consists of a 3-D micromachined microelectrode array, realized using a new architecture that allows simple and rap

Camouflage garments can be associated with surveillance images of a crime scene even in the absence of unique wear marks or very high-quality images. However, the probability of an accidental association, or incidence rate, is significant. The presen

This paper reports an implantable microsystem capable of recording neural activity simultaneously on 64 channels, wirelessly transmitting spike occurrences to an external interface. The microsystem also allows the user to examine the spike waveforms

Lithographically defined microelectrode arrays now permit high-density recording and stimulation in the brain and are facilitating new insights into the organization and function of the central nervous system. They will soon allow more detailed mappi

Quantitative serial serum measurements of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels using sensitive double-antibody radioimmunoassays were performed in nine patients with germinal cell tumors before and during treatment. T

It is shown that in a semiconductor with quantum wells intraband absorption of long-wavelength radiation due to Coulomb interaction of the electrons is possible as a result of band nonparabolicity. Analytical expressions for the absorption are found

An optical-electrical neural `Optrode' is developed for quantitative optical spectroscopic assessment of cortical tissue damage around a neural implant. In contrast to other Optrodes which illuminate tissue for neural activation, this work uses bi-di

It is often challenging to ascribe an objective measure of confidence for identifications based on surveillance imagery from a crime scene. The present work seeks to address this deficiency in the case of garment comparison evidence by developing a q

We have demonstrated a wafer-scale back-illumination process for silicon Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode arrays using Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) for backside passivation. Critical to this fabrication process is support of the thin (< 10 μm) detec
