We investigate Q-balls in a 1+1 dimensional complex scalar field theory. We find that the relaxation of a squashed Q-ball is dominated by the decay of a normal mode through nonlinear coupling to scattering modes and a long-lasting quasi-normal mode.

Large future sky surveys, such as the LSST, will provide optical photometry for billions of objects. This paper aims to construct a proxy for the far ultraviolet attenuation (AFUVp) from the optical data alone, enabling the rapid estimation of the st

We show that large scale oscillons, i.e., quasi-periodic, long living particle like solutions, may exist in massless theories, too. Their existence is explained using an effective (smeared) mass threshold which takes into account nonlinear (finite) p

Recently we showed how, in two-dimensional scalar theories, one-loop threshold diagrams can be cut into the product of one or more tree-level diagrams arXiv:2206.09368. Using this method on the ADE series of Toda models, we computed the double- and s

We investigate soliton collisions a one-parameter family of scalar field theories in 1+1 dimensions which was first discussed by Christ and Lee. The models have a sextic potential with three local minima, and for suitably small values of the paramete

Abstract Although different ecological factors shape adaptative evolution in natural habitats, we know little about how their interactions impact local adaptation. Here we used eight generations of experimental evolution with outcrossing Brassica rap

We study a limit in which a relativistic CFT reduces to conformal quantum mechanics, and relate the partition functions of the two theories. When the initial CFT is holographic, our limit coincides with an ultra-spinning limit in the gravity dual. We

Summary: Diabetes mellitus significantly increases the risk of severe respiratory virus disease like influenza and COVID-19. Early evidence suggests that this susceptibility to respiratory viral disease is driven by glycemic variability, rather than

We give a geometric interpretation for superconformal quantum mechanics defined on a hyper-Kahler cone which has an equivariant symplectic resolution. BPS states are identified with certain twisted Dolbeault cohomology classes on the resolved space a
