We describe flip chip bonding of arrayed VCSELs and PIN detectors onto ultra-thin silicon-on-sapphire (UTSi). We present results of UTSi optical transmitters and receivers for 3.125 Gbps multimode parallel optical fiber links at 850 nm.

We describe flip chip bonding of arrayed optoelectronic devices (VCSELs, MSM and PIN detectors) onto ultra-thin silicon-on-sapphire (UTSi). We present results of UTSi optical transmitters and receivers for 2.5 Gbps (and higher) parallel optical links

We report on optical components for parallel transmit and receive module, operating at 850nm, designed for short haul optical multimode fiber networks. The component is realized by flip-chip bonding of arrayed optoelectronic devices, i.e., VCSEL and

We report the generation of high-energy, low-jitter, and short pulses by gain-switching of a tapered stripe gain- guided laser diode via resonant driving. The application in optically clocked sample-and-hold will be discussed.© (1998) COPYRIGHT SPIE

A hydrophone remotely senses impinging acoustic energy. Light output from a laser is split and launched into a single-mode fiber which transmits it to an optical resonator at its end. The resonator is made up of a fixed fiber end having a dielectric
