The use of diode laser bars has traditionally been limited in many applications because of their poor beam quality in the plane of the junction (slow direction). Spectral Beam Combination (SBC) corrects this defect with minimal impact on efficiency.

An all diode-pumped hybrid Nd:YLF oscillator and Yb:S-FAP amplifier lasers system is described that generates over 70 mJ of Q-switched energy at 60 Hz. We bebeve this to be the highest Q-switched energy extracted from diode-pumped Yb:S-FAP.
