The just completed Mauritius Radio Telescope, a 2km by 1km T shaped synthesis array designed to repeat the 6C survey but for the Southern hemisphere, is described. Full details of the instrument hardware, and the software designed to interpret the ou

Interstellar scintillation has been conclusively demonstrated to be the principal cause of the intraday variability (IDV) observed in the centimetre-wavelength emission of many AGN. A few sources show large amplitude modulation in their flux density

Two daily pulsar monitoring programs are progressing at the Mount Pleasant Observatory, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. A new system involving the 26-metre radio telescope monitors 10 young pulsars daily and is focussed on near-real-time glitch finding.

Pulsars are rotating neutron stars, sweeping the emission regions from the magnetic poles across our line of sight. Isolated neutron stars lose angular momentum through dipole radiation and (possibly) particle winds, hence they slow down extremely st

The VLBI Space Observatory Programme (VSOP) is a Japanese-led project to image radio sources at 1.6 and 5 GHz with a linear resolution three-times greater than with ground arrays at these frequencies (Hirabayashi et al. 1998). The satellite is now de
